I walked into the streets when I was a kid,

Looked at the huge film poster standing tall in my city.

When other kids got mesmerized and dreamt of becoming an actor,

I chose to become a government officer.

The salary wasn’t that big, but the pride was enough,

To free youth away from drugs was my mission.

I fought hard against big drug cartels,

With less family time, sometimes I got injured,

The salary wasn’t that big, but the pride was enough.

Soon I got a bigger mission which I had to conquer,

The criminals were more powerful and deadly,

But I was doing my duty with utmost honesty.

When I caught a star and found an international drug trafficking chain,

The whole of my city went berserk and insane.

The media, ministers and people maligned

Not just me but my old father, sister and wife.

The humiliation and lies were continuous

And assassinating my character became their daily job.

The same lies were repeated 1000 times

By people who were a part of that big cartel.

The money and power were winning this war against the truth

In my city, I was standing aloof.

People were celebrating the star when he was released,

For the first time, I felt I was defeated,

Even when I struggled and fought with the evil in real.

That film poster was staring me at the same street as if it was mocking me,

“We entertain the people and enjoy our life, while you poor,

struggle and fight with criminals.

We are stronger as we have the support of media and people

but no one will save you even if you are in danger”

The salary wasn’t that big, but the pride was still enough

Despite feeling low, I chose to be right and follow my path

There was no desire or greed for a result,

No matter if I am standing alone, I will never forget my big mission.

In a world filled with selfishness and coke filled ego,

I will make things right and maintain law and order.

Yes, it’s my duty as a proud Indian officer,

And with utmost honesty I will deliver.
